Went for Singapore's second TEDx event which happened to be held in my campus. Never seen our lecture hall so full of people before. While obviously not as brilliant as the main event, it still was quite interesting and makes me feel like I need to stop slacking and do something.
Best speech that day by Alison Lester about not thinking out of the box but instead, looking inside your own box of experiences and knowledge to come up with something creative. She also showed us a hilarious creative exercise.
-Get a partner, both of you list 6 completely unrelated, random objects. Don't tell each other the items.
-Partner tells you his 1st item and you start a story with that.
-When you're ready, signal him for the second item and LINK that same story with the new 2nd item, repeat through all items and end story.
-Get partner to make up story with your 6 items.
-It helps if the items are funny/weird. (She used a Polka Dotted Window/Purple Thong)
I really hope to try it out some time with students if I get the chance.
