The River Flows In You

We were waiting for the work shop to happen when this girl played a song that sounded deceptively like what Jason Lee used in his 2001 freestyle.

Turns out it's a song by a brilliant Korean pianist.

Most graffiti is like modern art, isn't it? People are like, What does it mean?

Ala King: Dinner With Jeremiah

Cooking for the girls while they watch blondes backstab the sh*t out of each other. I think cooking alone is definitely not half as much fun as communal cooking. Plus you get to melt a whole brick of butter. Awesome.

With Chef de Cuisine, the kitchen conductor Jeremiah~

Sous Chef, the sausage dicing Terence!

Executive Chef, the pseudo Aussie surfer dude cook, Danny!

Shortly after this, J had to call his dad to confirm the recipe.

This is the "whole brick of butter" Ala King.

Everyone minus the restaurant owner.

The token minority is happy :p Thanks for the good times everyone.

Wood Shock

Like a G-Shock but with a wood bezel. Wicked.
Comes with all the backlight, stop watch, alarm clock digital goodness. But I doubt it'd be able to withstand water/drops.

Got Luxe?

Visvim's Cordovan Foley Folk.
Cordovan is a kind of leather usually reserved for luxury shoes. I believe this will be the first time it's on a sneaker. Like premium shoe makers, they're going to measure your feet to ensure the best possible fit. Couple that with the replaceable outsole and beautiful leather that will undoubtedly age well with time, this is really looking like something to break the bank for.
(I think it'll look better with white laces though)

Remember This?

Got to test the new Digimons that will be launching real soon. The electronic pets are back, this time with a card game that connects with a arcade style machine that runs a rock paper scissors based game.

While it's not going to be the game of the year, it certainly is still a decent game grounded in pretty safe game design (it really is just rock paper scissors). Hopefully the kids enjoy trying to read and anticipate each others' moves.

I always wanted a Teddymon! Always!!

They have deemed calculating the rate of Zimbabwe's hyperinflation as impossible because the computers don't have enough digits.

In Case You Didn't Know

Espadrilles are going to be big this summer, and it's always summer in Singapore.

Express Teppanyaki

The first time I stepped into a food court many years ago, I immediately decided this was what I was going to have. I remembered the experience was amazing, the chef cooking right in front of us was skillful, flashy and professional. I just kept watching his performance as he whipped up the meal and placed in on our metal foils. He really made every action look pretty cool.

Fast forward to tonight's dinner with J, the same deal (I guess) in a different time and space was drabby at best. It could be because it was the end of a long day, or maybe the chef was new, but the performance I was looking forward to wasn't even one. No style, no flair, no energy. Food wasn't as great as I remembered. It certainly wasn't bad, but I was just hoping for so much more.
Maybe I'm just harder to please now?

A Museum in Two Minutes

MoMA is the Museum of Modern Art, a New York museum that houses arguably the most comprehensive collection of high art. I see more than a couple works from Van Gogh, Dali, Picasso, Mondrian, and of course Andy Warhol.

SUPER

If I get eyebags, it's this guy.

Ryu and Sagat still seem pretty strong. Messing around with Guy. Cool character needs a lot of work for little rewards. Still, I want to be a sneaker ninja!

Return to Elias Park

MACRON YOU CAN DO IT!! BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!

She didn't seem to like yoyos all that much but insisted on drawing us a cute monkey.

I told them the "which mouse got 2 legs" joke, they told us the "how did the elephant get into the fridge" one. We also traded yoyo tricks for a robot dance.

This is Singapore

Seen on one of our mugging nights, Hokkien, English and bad grammar. JJ asked me recently what I think of Singlish. I'm actually very proud of how it reflects our multi-cultural influences, we just need to know when is a good or bad time to use it.
This time, it's just hella funny, and funny is always a good time.
(Pah! is Hokkien for beat/hit. Pah! game is slang in Hokkien for playing video/computer games, possibly derived from the banging of buttons often seen in video arcades)

'97 Skool: Bring It Back

I really don't know how to say what I want to you guys, so I'll just let Kohta do the talking.

There's a revolution right now. Horizontal, tunnels, chopsticks. Yoyos are fun again. We have a shop. Please drop by, drop a few tricks, compete. Not to win. F*ck winning. Just show those who never got the chance to see that old school style, that '97 Skool is still rocking.

For You

Came back from one of those trendy dance clubs and all I wanted to do was watch this.
This video by the incredible Takeshi Kamisato documents his yoyo related travels and its moments of random craziness, laughter, and all around good fun. Includes maybe the only footage of Rafael spinning a toothpick with his nose (??).
Pra Voce is Spanish/Portuguese, and means "For You".
